About a week ago my many months of being a Mimi in exile came to a happy hault.
Bounding out of Finnair’s Internation arrivals corridor came my grandaughter Marta
age (4 1/2) .
She was yelling “Mimi” at the top of her lungs, and then leaped into my arms…

In an instant my six long months of sadness seemed to vanish.

Following up behind was a bit dazed, soon to be one Anna, in the arms of her mother Epp, along with my son Justin looking every bit like two people who had just spent 8 hours on a plane with two kids.

I cannot begin to describe the joy at being able to hug and kiss all of their tired faces.

The rush hour traffic took a 1 1/4 hour ride and made it close to 3 hours.

We stopped for what Marta requested “real pizza”.
How she knows that we have “real pizza” in New York I will never know… but each time I asked her what she wanted to eat when she got to Mimi’s .. she would say
real pizza…
Anna seemed to enjoy the pizza as well.

Baby Anna and I have had very little time to bond…
She is a baby girl who reminds me alot of her father …she seems to have his soft quiet way.
I hope that we can have a bit of time to get to know one another before she is wisked away from me once again.
I so want to get to a place where one day she and I can have the kind of relationship that her sister Marta and I have.

I don’t think words can describe the happiness that I feel having them home again..
